Peace be with you!
Welcome to the Northeast Episcopal Regional Ministry (NERM) homepage! For nearly seven years, NERM has been an active part of ministry to people in northern and central Missouri. We are committed to working together to continue the work of the Gospel, being witnesses for Christ in the world. We invite you to come and join us for fellowship, support, outreach, and spiritual development!

What is NERM?

The Northeast Episcopal Regional Ministry is a collaborative effort of five partner congregations, all located in small communities. Strong lay and ordained leadership guides and directs the region's mission and ministry. Each congregation has a distinct personality, yet all work together for the common good. NERM currently includes five parishes and one home church in northern and central Missouri:

Christ Church, Boonville
St. Mary's Church, Fayette
Christ Church, Lexington
Trinity Church, Marshall
St. Philip's Church, Trenton
Bethany House Fellowship, Bethany

Together we work to nurture and support our partner congregations, strengthen total ministry in the region, plant new eucharistic fellowships, and engage in a vitality that refreshes us and the new members who join us.

St. Mary's is a founding church of NERM.

Christ Church, the latest church to join NERM, was established by Bishop Jackson Kemper in 1844 as he was making his way west on his missionary journeys. The original church building was erected in 1848. During the Civil War the church was closed by the United States troops; it was re-opened in 1865. Recently, the church celebrated its 150th anniversary with a visit from both Diocesan bishops and a choral Evensong.

Today, Christ Church's 54 members "share a strong sense of family providing worship, learning, and fellowship for all ages. We are striving to be faithful to God's call to be open and responsive to human needs through our programs and activities within our communities." Christ Church offers an annual Christmas Bake Sale and bible studies for adults and young children. In addition, this faith community supports programs such as the Garden Club, Reach for Recovery, Episcopal Social Services, Lafayette Country Health Services, the Lexington Ministerial Alliance, and the House of Hope Shelter.

Recently, the church has undergone substantial renovation, including repainting the interior, installation of new lighting and electrical wiring, and improvements to the roof and back entrance. The members of St. Philip's celebrated the centennial of the laying of the cornerstone last year.

Today, St. Philip's Outreach Center across the street serves both as a fellowship hall for the 35 active members as well as an office for St. Philip's. On Mondays and Thursdays, area middle and high school students receive help with their schoolwork in the Wings program at the Outreach Center. In addition, a tutoring program is offered for elementary school students. The St. Philip's community is actively involved with the Trenton Food Pantry, the Women's Abuse Center, and the local ministerial alliance. The Outreach Center currently houses the
NERM office.
