Each year, high school seniors whose parent or legal guardians are telephone, Internet, or Skitter TV customers of Green Hills Communications have the opportunity to win up to $2,500 in scholarships. This scholarship is sponsored in part by Green Hills Communications and the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS). If an entry from our area is not chosen for the $2,500 FRS scholarship, then Green Hills performs their own judging and chooses a student for a $500 college scholarship
This year Green Hills was able to award two students with FRS scholarships.
Dustin Davies, son of Darrin and Emily Davies of Dawn, received a $2,500 college scholarship. Dustin plans on attending University of Missouri where he will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Plant Sciences.
Meredith Oesch, daughter of Orland and Rhonda Oesch of Mooresville received a $2,500 college scholarship. Meredith plans on attending Iowa State University where she will study Agriculture Business.
Green Hill’s Board President, David Misel, presented both Dustin & Meredith with $2,500 checks and wished them well in their future endeavors.
Information and applications on the scholarship are sent to area high schools each December and have a deadline around mid-February (Specific dates are announced each year.). Parents, legal guardians, and students are more than welcome to contact our office at 660-644-5411 and speak to Sherryl Garcia for an application or additional information.
