White flags indicate the route for placing fiber lines. Colored flags indicate underground utility and placement a professional locate is required by law before we can begin construction.
Do I need to mark private inground systems that may be burried on my property?
Yes, private utilities and systems such as sprinkler and irrigation systems, invisible fences, private water supply lines, etc. must be marked my the property owner.
How long will the flags and/or markings be in place?
The construction crew will remove the flags when they have completed that portion of the buildout or fiber drop. Construction times can vary by project. You will receive text messages, emails, and/or mailers throughout the construction process to keep you updated. You can also refer to this page for project updates as they progress or call our local team at 800-846-3426.
Why is there a pedestal in my yard and what is it for?
An internet pedestal is a small utility box that protects underground internet cables and equipment. It’s part of the neighborhood network and often serves multiple homes, not just yours.
It’s usually placed in a utility easement, which is why it can be in your yard even though it’s owned by the internet provider. Technicians use it to access, repair, or upgrade service without digging.
Homeowners shouldn’t move or open it, but normal landscaping around it is fine as long as access is kept clear.
